Places you would like to go

I would like to make another trip out west to visit some of my favorite places such as Mesa Verde, Col. Chiricahua Natl. Mon. and I hope to make another trip to the Outer Banks of North Carolina where we spent many years on vacation there.

What would we be surprised to know about you?

I am not sure about this. I will have to give more thought to it. I guess I might say that I have had some "spiritual experiences" during my life that would be surprising to most people, especially since I am not a religious kind of guy or I might say that I am not into organized religion of any sort. Now I just published a revision of my "Journey of Life" book that describes some of my "inner experiences".

What is your favorite memory of HEHS

Playing sports, acting in school plays, pep rallies, and especially friendships with classmates

What is your least favorite memory of HEHS

Falling on a fumble rather than picking it up and running for a touch down and winning the game - I felt horrible over letting my school, teammates and coaches down. While I have come to accept it, I still remember it and it is something you wish you could do over again.

What are your favorite drinks?

Cabernet Wine with dinner

What was the last CD you bought?

Beethoven, Symphony No. 1 and 6

What famous or interesting people have you met?

The Dalai Lama - Univ. of Michigan - I believe he is the most highly developed human being I have ever met, Elisabeth Kubler-Ross and Bernie S. Siegel, (corresponded with them as we had working with cancer patients in common).

What cool things have you done?

Traveled to Russia (St. Petersburg and Moscow), Amsterdam (Red Light District), England (London and Oxford Univ., Shakespeare's home, Stonehenge, etc.., Scotland. For ten years straight, I went tent camping in the Southwest and Colorado. Visited many Native American cliff dwellings, Wrote a book of poetry, built a retreat cottage in the woods near Leesville Lake in Carroll County, Ohio

October, 2008 I was inducted into the Bemidji State University (Minn.) Football Hall of Fame. I played football at Bemidji during my freshman year and was moved to the varsity to play defense at mid season. Much to my surprise, that 1959 team turned out to be the best team in the school history. Since I received a varsity letter, I was inducted in the Hall of Fame. At first, I was not inclined to make the trip but with encouragement from family and friends, I decided to go. And, I am so pleased that I did. After about 50 years, I saw some incredible changes to the University, met some wonderful people, and reconnected with some of my classmates. And I was able to get a feel for the young man that I was then, who left his home in Huntington and traveled over 1500 miles to test whether he had what it took to make it on his own. It was a great experience, difficult at times, but lots of growth and just what I needed at the time.

Most recently I published a book with the title of "Inner Consciousness and Spontaneous Imagery: an Exploration of the Unconscious". It is a summation of over 20 years of research work., Moreover I just published the revision of my Poetry book, "The Journey of Life" . Now I am working on a book about my research work with cancer patients. It will deal with the spiritual aspect of experiencing cancer and other life threatening illness and of healing one's life.

My next book on Archetypes and evil is due to be published soon. Another book on Creative Consciousness is in the works now. Wishing you a great Birthday celebration this year. Hi Mike, I hope all is well in your neck of the woods. I just received a message from Sally. She is seeking someone to take over the Web site. Is that something you might be interested in doing? I know very little about web sites and otherwise technologically challenged. Anyway, I hope you are well and thriving these days and I want to wish you a great birthday celebration with family and friends. Take good care of yourself, Fondly, David

Hi Carolyn, just want to wish you a wonderful birthday today. I hope you are well and thriving these days. Y0u have probably heard that Janice Chandler died recently. What a tremendous life of love and creativity. She was 100 years old. Otherwise, I am fine and keeping busy working on my writing projects. Continue to spend weekends at my cottage in the woods. However, it is getting more difficult to keep up. It is the law, we get older and not younger. Take good care of yourself. Fondly, David

Hi Ernie, I see that you are having a birthday soon. I hope your heart problems have been resolved, and you will be able to enjoy another birthday celebration with family and friends. Are you doing any writing, maybe a book of photographs of beautiful West Virginia? I am working on a book about Creative Consciousness. It will feature an analysis of five biographies of highly creative people. Anyway, I hope you are will and thriving and enjoying life. Take good care of yourself. Fondly David

It was a sad moment when I learned of Sandy's death. She was one of my dear friends during our highschool days. I remember her as a good listener, who I went to to express all my problems, which were many.at the time. Her inviting smile had such a calming effect.  I could have predicted that she would have lived such a full life; full of love that she shared with so many who came her way. My warm and gentle thoughts are with her family and friends. God speed my dear friend.

Hi Linda, Hope all is well in your neck of the woods in sunny Florida. Just want to wish you a wonderful birthday today with family and friends. It might help to make your day brighter to know that I am sitting here in North east Ohio looking out the window at a snow storm. Incidentally, I saw where another one of our classmates, Linda Ours, just died. It seems the last few years have been filled with such sadness. But it is your day today, Wishing it to be one of your best. Love ya, David

I was sory to learn of Linda's death. She was another one of our high school class of 59 classmates who lived a fulfilling life of excellence and with the highest degree of integrety.. There is no way to assess the countless lives she touched and inspired to live fulfilling and creative lives.  I am sure she will be sorely missed by family, friends and former students. My warm gentle thoughts go with her and her family. .

Hi Peggy, I hope all is well in your neck of the woods. Colorado Springs must be really beautiful this time of the year. We have had a lot of snow and cold weather here, and the lake has frozen over for the first time in many years. I hope you are well and thriving. Wishing you a wonderful birthday with family and friends. Take good care of yourself, fondly David

Hi Jo Ann, First, it is Christmas day and I want to wish you a great Christmas and New Years celebration. And I wish you the very best as your Birthday brings in the New Year. It was nice to see you at our reunion. It is sad to think that we might not have another reunion. It seems that it is becoming more difficult for our classmates to travel. But perhaps we can keep this website going so we can continue to communicate. Take good care of yourself, David

Hi Barbara, I hope you were able to weather the storms that passed through Florida recently, without any damage to your home. Sherry's friends are talking about the rising cost of insurance for Florida residents. Otherwise, I hope all is well in your neck of the woods. I am fine. I continue to work on my writing projects with my latest book to be published in the next month or so. It is in the editing phase right now. I am working on another writing project that has a working title of "Creative Consciousness". It was great to see you at our last reunion. It is sad to note that we may not have any more reunions. It is also sad that several classmates have recently died. On a more positive note, I hope this birthday will be special for you. Wishing you the very best and a great celebration with family and friends. Fondly, David
